Welcome to Our Lady of the Rosary School! Our theme for this school year is “Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart.” We ask our Lord to light our path as we embark on a new school year. The administration, teachers, and staff fully embrace the importance of letting God’s light shine through us and praising His light in others. We are grateful for the prayerful partnership of our Pastor, Father Jesus Nieto-Ruiz.
The shared mission of OLR and the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland is to educate children in the Catholic faith and to nurture their minds, bodies, and souls. Our Lady of the Rosary School is located in Union City and has served families in our parish and the surrounding cities for over 45 years. The dedicated administration, teachers, and staff are committed to providing a quality academic education rooted in the principles of the Catholic Church. We look forward to partnering with you, the parents, to inspire our students to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to achieve their highest academic and creative potential, and to actively serve and enrich the community. At Our Lady of the Rosary, we strive to develop character in our students and to truly support them in understanding our mission to serve others.
We appreciate the partnership we have with our parents and their commitment to actively support our school. We strongly believe that the best way for parents to be aware of their child’s progress is to communicate with the teachers. Our focus is to provide opportunities for applying 21st century skills across all content areas and offer innovative learning methods that integrate the use of technology and inquiry-based approaches to learning. We ask our parents to encourage their child to always do their best and we are committed to serving your child with faith-filled dedication in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our Lady of the Rosary is so pleased to also offer a Before & After School Learning program funded by CDE 21st Century grant funds sponsored by the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education. The 21st Century Community Learning Center (CLC) is open to all students enrolled at our school. This program is offered at no extra cost and provides a range of academic assistance depending on the specific needs of the student, from tutoring in reading and math, to group homework centers. This extended day program runs Monday through Friday from 6:25 to 7:55 a.m. and after school from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. (2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Minimum days) and is free of charge to our school families. The CLC provides an enrichment element that offers participating students a broad array of services, programs, and activities designed to reinforce and complement the school day academic program. Examples include youth development, art, physical fitness, and recreational activities. Literacy and educational services are also available to the families of enrolled students such as English literacy classes, technology classes, and training for parents on how to be full partners in their child's education. Nutritious snacks are provided for all participating students.
